hey im dave just joined up....lots of info here.......seems like a great place

And i have one hell of a problem with my Z........major loss of power its like its running on 4 cylendars......WOT gives me redline rpms with no power at all.........the power is just gone its like a 4cyl.....totally stumped

no engine light........new plugs are needed and wires i know that there about 3yrs old.......engine is a lot louder when i get on it.......sounds like i have cold air intake but i dont.......no tics, idles fine.......just a major power loss................i sprayed the plug wires at night with water and got nothing from the wires but the box above the distributor was sparking (very tiny sparks) dont know if its normal this is my first z.......she was fine a week ago....i pulled the MAF and cleaned it ran without the MAF (it blew smoke ran like ****) im just to busy to start pulling plugs and i think it might be them (i hope)

sounds like your coil wire is arcing out or the coil itself is bad

i would get a new coil, and i think your catalytic converter is clogged too, all that unburned gas is probably just sitting in there.

well its feeling boggy real bad like its clogged up....it sounds clogged too in a way when i give it gas at any speed...very slow and it wasnt

Let's get the basics. Year and transmission in car. Any modifications or recent work done? Anything change other than the loss of power?

its a 94 lt1 A4 tranny underdrive pulleys, k&n filter throttlebody airfoil thats it the car is underpowered severly its bogging down and sounds clogged and when i revit up under load it revs but goes nowhere

Whats your battery voltage at? if you can use a digital multimeter to read while the cars running preferably coming off the alternator and use the body as a ground.

Drive it tonight.... after about 20 minutes look under the car for anything glowing.

drove it today.........very underpowered bogging down sounds muffled and my cat is smoking......should i chop it off and throw some flex pipe in there for now??? not enough $ to fix this week but i need my car

you can just lower the y pipe and just stab the hell of it, but wear a mask...that catalist make ya feel crapy. as long as your going to replace it down the road its okay to just gut it, but if you want to keep it gutted you should weld a pipe through it to help air flow..

If your cat is smoking thats not normal, could be clogged cat.

Additional check your fuel pressure. If you have a dieing fuel pump it will usually run fine under light throttle/no load, but when you try to go fast...you don't.
