Question New headers/heads

I just pulled my heads off due to a blown gasket and they are presently being resurfaced/cleaned. I am going to be installing a set of LT pacesetter coated headers with an OFY. Is there anything else I need to do in this process? Do I need to retune due to the loss of cat/AIR EGR? I just want to make sure I dont spend all this money on the car and it runs like crap. Its a 95 with about 130k miles on it. Thanks for the input.

also should I buy new head bolts? Most people I talk to say trash the old bolts and get new ones. Thanks!

the missing egr will throw a code. you will need to have it programmed out unless you like the ses light being on all the time.

ohh and yes to the new head bolts....also might want to get some o2 extenders on the way. the coating on the LTs will prob ruin your o2s so you might have a new set handy when your old ones go.

If they're stock then yes get new ones. The stockers are torque to yield and are only good for one fastening.
Get ARP head bolts. I believe they are about the same if not less than the price of new stock head bolts and you can reuse the ARP's over and over again.

I would buy new header gaskets and bolts as well, the ones that Pacesetter supplies are junk.

Do you use the header bolts for a SBC or do they need to be LT1 header bolts? I looked and it only listed LS1 and SBC header bolts.

The LT1 cylinder head is a traditional SBC "D" port style. Any SBC header bolts will work. Do a search on summit's website for "ARP header bolts" and you'll run into multiple options. Many use the 1" length bolts. I'm using the 3/4" (listed as 0.750 on Summit's website) with my Hookers and they work fine.
