New exhaust, Sweet Thunder mufflers and questions

Right now I have an H pipe with 18" glasspacks (yes, dont ask) dumped at the rear axle. Farm truck sound is getting old and I don't want my tropper buddy to see my "modified" exhaust from a mile away.

My plan. 2.5" duals with H over the axle. Both on pass side. Bring the tubes across under the gass tank and put 2 18" or 24" sweet thunders side by side in the stock location. Then do a totl exit out the back on the drivers side.

Already talke to my exhaust guy and just about to order my mufflers. Appearance wise it will be much nicer than what I have now, and it will get a lot of the noise out of the cab of the car.

General opinions on the plan? like/dislike?

Will this be quiter than what I have now. I dont need it to be silent, just want to tone it down a notch or two. I have heard clips of the sweet thunders, they sound like 40s but meaner. You cant judge the volume on the clips though.

Should sound pretty good, similar to an old 60's muscle car. Those mufflers are similar to whats used on the GMMG system, and it should support the hp your makeing. It should have alot less interior drone than what you have now, too. Why are you going with an h-pipe instead of a x-pipe? If its still to loud, you can add some bullet mufflers or some header cones or disks to quiet it down a little.

Another thing. Are you going to have enough room to run 2.5" duals on the passenger side. You might need to run a panhard rod relocation kit from BMR if there isnt enough room.

Also, running the exhaust out the back is going to cost more than dumped so be prepared to spend a little to have it done right.

Here is a pic of something similar to what you have planned, but they have it over the axel on both sides and dual exits. They used 4 sweet thunder mufflers to quiet it down a little.

An H is easy, and therefore cheaper for me. Basically last time we ran the duals then put a connector between the two sides.

Not to discourage you but I had 18 in sweet thunders on a h-pipe duals setup and I thought it make it sound like a harely. I just ran it with no mufflers out the back in the stock locations and it sounded awesome! No interor drone to speak of.
