New clutch= problems

Car was totally disassembled, has a star stage two clutch in it, and it's an LT1 car

When I start it up in nuetral it runs and then when I depress the clutch pedal it makes a metallic screech sound and stalls the engine. Cannot put it in gear either.......need suggestions for possible causes.

It was put together about 5 months ago and in a rush, so state the obvious please.

Thanks in advance

by the way, the clutch pedal feels all limp........like it's not disengaging.

but I don't understand why pushing it in while it's in neutral would cause it to stall the engine

Well now, this should be a lesson to all of us not to rush things...

That said, are you sure you've got the clutch fork engaged correctly. My pedal was acting real bizarre untill I got that fork hooked up right.. it was kinda limp up top then it would just kinda stop half way down.. I never started it like that though so I have no idea how it would've acted. That'd be my best guess anyways though based on what you're describing.. Might want to check the hydrolics too (clutch master and slave cylinders). Simple things first man.

It's been working fine up until this point though right? Or is this the first time you've started it? Either way stop running the car - whatever is wrong it is surely not good at all for your clutch, flywheel or trans...

I'd say if the clutch fork appears to be in place against the imput shaft then your only other option is to pull that sucker back out to figure out exactly what else it could be..

Good luck,

Yeah, I did the same the thing. It is the clutch fork rubbing the pressure plate. Pull the slave cylinder off and you should be able to get the clutch fork in the right place.
