New car difficulties

Finally got my new Z. Two quick questions. I threw the scanner on it just to mess around. Its show the rpms on the tach are about 600rpms faster than on the scanner. The tach seems right because at idle its around 800 but on the scanner its 1300-some. Also when I rev it up quick to around 5500 on the tach the scanner jumps to around 7000. Once even went to 7700 . THeres no way this motor is revving that high. .30 over Lt1, stage 3 heads. Port matched intake, dished JE pistons - for the paxton which is unhooked at the moment (bearings) . So what do you guys think?

Also the air/fuel ratio guage is always running at lean sometimes goes to stoich. when revved. But the car is extremely rich due to 42lb injectors and no extra air becasue of the supercharger being unhooked. The 02's on the scanner hovered from around 60-150. This doesn't seem right to me. Maybe they are done for. The BLM is pegged at 160. I know you guys can help me sort out these minor new - used car problems. Any help is great. Oh yeh - What am I looking to spend on having new bearings but in the paxton. Its a P600. Thanks Nathan

Re: New car difficulties

Good morning!
I'm not going to claim any expertise on this one, but I'll give you my .02c. Try to find someone else with a scanner and compare values...I would be more inclined to think that the scanner has something wrong with it. Since the previous owner needed to have the car dyno-tuned because of the mods, I would doubt there's a problem there.

RE: the A/F guage...I have one, and that thing is the biggest POS EVER! From what I understand these things read values off the O2 sensors at X seconds interval...this may be a good time to invest in a laptop -> PCM connector and some analysis software, this would solve both of your concerns. check http://www.akmcables.com/ic.htm for the cable and software.

Good luck!

Re: New car difficulties

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention its a 93 so I need an eprom programmer. That website really helped. I found everything I need to burn my own chips except experience. I wonder if it would be easier to buy a 94+ PCM and harness and just get an LT1edit program or something. I'm still trying to get some more specs of the motor from the previous owner like CR and such.
