New cam, pin too short

Got my new cam from Lloyd, and the pin is too short. Stock is right around .62 and mine is .5, so it's only a 1/8" difference. The only machine shop out here wants to charge me $70, so I want to see if I might be safe or should I get the pin swapped out? It's not moving by my hands, I already tried.

You need to go to another machine shop. $70 to change a dowel pin is robbery.

At most you should not spend more than 20 dollars, those people are trying to ROB you.

Good to know, I thought it sounded high. Is there a particular shop I should look for, like an engine building shop or something? Because I've called every machine shop and only one said they could do it.

I would say $10-20 would be a normal charge.

You might try some "machine shops" with a mill, lathe, press, etc. that does fabrication. A "machinist" should be able to do it in a minute or so. They have pin pullers and can do it quicly and correctly.

An "automotive machine shop" might not wanna mess with it or might try and di it with vise grips or something crazy.
