Question New buyer

Hey, I am looking at a 1997 Z28 6-speed with 70k miles. The price is $7,900 is that reasonable? Is there any known issues or problems with this year I should check and look for when test driving? Thanks, I look forward to being a part of these forums.

Re: New buyer

Welcome!

I'm not up to speed on the current "good deal prices" so can't help there.

One common problem you can look for which might help you to bargain on the price some is an intake oil leak. Intake oil leaks are VERY common in the LT1s. This results in the front/back of your engine being covered in oil. It can be so bad as to even cause a few drips on the ground each time you stop. Or, it might not be bad enough to cause oil dripping but bad enough to make the engine look terrible. While this usually isn't a huge deal, it can be expensive to repair (if you decide to repair it) if you don't do the repair yourself. Better yet is that if it does have this leak (good chance it will) you can look at the underside of the engine and complain about the leak and say how it is going to cost you a good amount of $$$ to have it fixed so therefore they should knock off some money on the car
