First of all, congrats on the LT1 purchase and welcome to the message board, you'll find PLENTY of information on here! I've only been a member for a short time and have learned alot thanks to all the great members! Now onto your question...to name a few first mods:

Cold air intake
Long tube headers
A good catback exhaust
free mods such as the TB bypass

do a search on first mods and i'm positive you'll find some useful info.

Do things in this order...

Free mods (you will need to look these up)
Cold Air Intake
Cutout
Torque converter
Long Tubes if you don't have to pass emissions (get shortys if you do)
Gears if you have 2.73's

When you get serious do some research on cams, heads, forced induction. Have fun.

Change your tranny fluid and filter, and get an aftermarket tranny cooler. Or it will blow up and you can spend your cash on a tranny swap like me

Re: New to the Board Need Ideas.....

Welcome! Anytime someone new signs up I always recommend doing maintenance first before getting into the mods. There are a few reasons for this-

1) A car that's up to date on maintenance and in good shape will get the most out of mods
2) Maintenance is easier to do than many mods on these cars, so you can use the extra time while you are doing maintenaince to research mods.

Here is what I'd recommend-
-Cooling system flush and refill.
-Fluid change and new filter in the trans(use Maxxlife and add a transcooler).
-Mobil 1 75w90 gear oil in the rear end and limited slip additive from the dealer.
-New fuel filter.
-Inspect all belts and hoses, intake ducting, brakes, etc.

Now you'll notice that I didn't recommend new plugs and wires- yet. It is such a bitch to do plugs and wires I would recommend doing them when you do headers. Plus with only 60k miles they should be fine. Whenever you do headers change the plugs and go with some Taylor "over the valve cover wires" from Thunder Racing. I burned up some wires routed in the stock location but with the Taylor kit it solved the problem.

After you are up on maintenance, in the order I would do it-

Intake and throttle body coolant bypass.
Catback exhaust
Headers (plugs & wires)
1.6 ratio roller rockers & new valve springs
Mail order tune
2800 stall and and extra set of sticky tires for the track and weekends

From there you'll want to go internal work, unless you decide to put some nitrous on it. Hope this helps, I had some free time this morning
