Thumbs up New best times with Pacesetter LTs, hotcam kit...

1st Run:

60ft.----- >2.02
1/8------->8.40@85.40
1/4------->12.96@107.25

2nd Run:

60ft.----->2.03
1/8------>8.47@84.51
1/4------>13.06@106.60

3rd Run:

60ft.----->2.00
1/8------>8.37@85.02
1/4------>12.94@104.57

The 3rd round was eliminations and I tried not to break out when racing a 17sec. grand am, so after I passed him I hit the brakes hard and still ran the 12.94@104.57....Would like to know what I really would have run if I stayed in it the whole time. Also, I stayed the 3rd gear the whole time on the 3rd run. I think these et streets that I have are a little bit larger in diameter then my 245/50/16s because I dont seem to pull as much rpm with them.

You still need to work on lowering those sixty foots.

Yes I know this...but I think I need different gearing. I have tried riding the clutch and got a 2.0, and I have tried dumping the clutch from 4500rpm and the car just bogs down. I really dont want to rev much higher on a stock 10bolt with nearly 99K miles on it. My next mod will be 3.73s or 4.10s.

Your trap speeds seem pretty low for your mods. Have you tried some more tuning or doing a tuneup?

Shouldn't really need a tune up at all, tuning im sure it could use some as it was just a mail order tune. But overall I dont think 107 is that low of trap speeds for a lt1 with a small cam on stock heads/intake/throttle body. I know theres more there yet because last year I had one run at 108 with the old BBK shortie headers.

many LT1 bolt on cars trap 107 with stock cam... with a good tune a good hotcam car (320-330rwhp) should trap 109-111 easy.. but that's in good air of course.. I dont know what the DA was the day you ran.

DA was around 1000ft. and I guess it should be noted that there was a pretty stong head wind that day. I would guess it to be around 15-20mph. I know drivers can make a big difference but with one of my qualifying runs, I ran a ls1 firehawk with ram air/full exhaust, 6spd and we were side by side. Actually I beat him because of RT but ran same et/mph.

I would go with 4.10 gears. I have 373s with my hot cammed motor and I am a bit lower than redline when I reach the end of the quarter mile. btw I ran 12.94@112mph in 85 degree heat 2 weeks ago at gld. I was running on street tires. I hope for lower ets with drag radials.
