New Best

I headed out to the track last night with hopes of hitting 12.5xx...got a little closer, but no dice. My best run of the night was a 12.647 @ 110.359. Previous best was a 12.669 @ 109.56 on a 1.84 60' w/the shorties. The 12.64 run went as follows:

60' 1.923 - arggg
330' 5.340
1/8 8.174
MPH 87.377
1/4 12.647
MPH 110.359

My best MPH of the night was 110.789 and 87.676 in the 1/8 - ran a 12.7 on this pass on a 2.06 60'. I need to start looking into some suspension mods because the car is to the point that it just plain won't hook on the ET Streets. I'm sure some of it is our tracks' horrible prep.

It was 90' last night, so I was glad to see the car do as well as it did. I was happy to hit near 88 and 111 mph. Now if I can get it to hook and get some cool weather, it should run pretty good.

how do you like the 3:73s compared to 4:10s? Congrats on the mid 12's that's awesome with just a cam. I'm looking at the 230/236 because I like the powerband from 1500-6500 vs like the 306 which is good around 2500 rpm. Are you considering heads next?

Thanks. I never had the 4.10s in with the cam - I broke 2 sets of 4.10s w/bolt-ons on street tires. I will say the 3.73s are stronger and there is a noticeable difference between the two gearsets. If I had a bigger cam I would go with 4.10s (preferably w/a 12-bolt) to get the cam in the meat of the power curve quicker. I just drove a 230/236, stock-headed car at the track last night and I wasn't all that impressed. Best pass was a 13.4 @ 107.xx. The car pulled pretty well, but the low-end just wasn't there. I would take a cc306 over a 230/236 just because I've seen how well stock-headed LT1s respond to the 306 (ie, KreinMC's car trapped 112.6 on stock heads w/a cc306). You will lose quite a bit of low end with the 306, but gears would help a ton.

I will be getting heads in the near future - I want to get the car to hook before I make more power. When I get heads, I will be going with either a cc306 or a custom grind. Good luck!
