New belt with AC delete?

I deleted my AC when I had my motor was out for my stroker rebuild and now that I tried to reuse the same belt it's too big...considerably... Has this happened to anyone else. What size did you end up using. Is there a way to measure?

Huh, JPolz, just did that to his car and used the same belt he had. We removed it when we did the cam. I don't think you should need a new belt.

It should be the same factory belt size. Unless your using a different crank / alt. pulley?

If the belt seems too long, try Gatorback p/n 4060635 that you can get at Autozone. The last digits of that part number tell you that the belt is 63-5/10 inches long.

There is another belt used by the f-body that is Gatorback p/n 4060642 that is a little longer (64-2/10"). There were two different a/c pullies used over the years and they were not the same diameter.

The a/c delete pullies are probably all one size, so you could conceivably end up with the wrong size belt depending on what size your original a/c pulley was. This is probably why some people say their original belt was fine and other complain of it no longer fitting.

Measure your belt with a cloth tape if you need to. You can also use a string and then straighten it out to measure it.

Cool

Sounds like you don't actually have an AC delete pulley. You will have to have one for things to work correctly with the tensioner. I made my own out of some 1/4" thick aluminum and an idler pulley from a 2.8 GM. Free, you just have to do some measuring and testing

I found when I did the swap my stock belt was too loose, was simply told by those who did it to get a new belt - I think the 1LE may have had a 1/4" shorter belt or something, either way the new one worked rather to my supprise.

I know its been awhile but did you ever find out?
The reason I am asking is because I just did the !A/C and the belt is too big.I have an underdrive pulley as well.

Just got my 1LE pulley on. I still need to put my alt. back on and test the belt. Looks like the same belt will work just fine but who knows.

Their computer always asks that question. Have you ever seen a 4th gen Camaro without A/C (except the 1LE).

FWIW: The 95 1-LE factory belt is GM#10236702 and marked 6PK1614EB for a length of 1614 mm (or 63.54 inches) When I replaced mine the closest the store had was the slightly longer 6PK1630 (1630 mm or 64.17 inches). I works fine with the benefit of not having to twist the tensioner so far to remove/install the belt.
