Honestly this sounds like something beyond the tune itself... I'm on a mail order tune (for now), and I'm fine

well i know they *can* work........but its far from optimal, and it can definetly be the source of other problems.

reply to Jordon:

According to Cloyes instructions....

There are 3 keyways, 1 flat top (square), 1 rounded top, 1 triangular top (pointy).

1.) Square keyway uses the square timing mark. That is too install cam 4 degrees retarded.

2.) Rounded top keyways uses the circle timimg mark. That is too install cam at factory settings. Straight up.

3.) Triangular keyway uses the triangle timing mark. that is too install cam 4 degrees advanced,

I used #2. The crank keyways is set with this one, and I used the circle to line up dot to dot.

Am I missing something.

I got a person telling me my lifters are toast......we will know soon.

thanks

It is sad yet happy day for me!!!!!

It has been confirmed, my lifters are dead (all of them). Now we need to find out why? Well not me, since my brother's teacher volunteered to take care of it for free as my brothers project.

He says it might me mismatched springs, to much pressure, now he is tearing it apart to check if my cam lobes are ok, now for sure I need

$220 Comp R Lifters
$140 for Springs
$250 possible for new cam (unlikely)
$120 for pushrods (he said they wont bend given they are chromemoly, the lifters would give out first.

This sucks more money, but at least now I know the source of the problem.

Just wait till I take the bill to the original builder!!!!!! I trust my new builder, as his credentials he showed me his 9 second FOX body, with a 9,000 rpm redline!!! WHOA!!!

That's good that you found the problem. I wish that was my case.
