Never go to a street mechanic

NEVER lol but anway..So I blew a headgasket and decided to listen to a friend who said he has someone who knows cars, the result??

I give the guy my car and he ends up keeping it for a month or two only to give it back partially rebuilt with the power steering pump and alternator removed. He put the heads back on, installed a new opti and waterpump, but now as far as I know the battery is dead because I put it back together but no start no lights no nothing. Basically what i want to know is how would I know if he had the heads checked and repaired or if there is a crack in the block without starting up the car? or is that the only way I'll be able to for sure know?

And don't ever do something like that again.

A quick pressure test should identify a leak between the coolant passages and the outside (or inside as the case may be).
