needles on gauge cluster?

Well i pulled my needles off on my dash gauge cluster trying to lay white background. For some reason i thought the needles recalibrated them selves every time the car was started but i guess i was wrong. Anybody else ever do this and screw up there needle positions? How can i fix this other than like setting my gas needle to empty when i run out of gas
thanks,

Well, you set it to full when you fill up (or way past full, like most gauges are).

Seriously, everything I have ever read about overlays said to be sure to mark or take a picture of your needle positions before you remove them. There is no other way to get them back on just like they were.
