Need VATS help ASAP! Have to work tomorrow!

Ok so my security light keeps flashing when I try to start my car. So I figure its the VATS. When I measure my key with an ohmmeter with the setting at 200k, it comes up 11.80. Which resistors do I need? I really need help as soon as possible, I have to work tomorrow afternoon. Any help would be appreciated!

Not quite sure about your meter scale, but sounds like you were in a k-ohms one. Your 11.80 reading would be 11,800 ohms. That is right on for pellet #15 . Get a resistor or combination of them to add up to anything in the high-low range for #15 and you should be good to go.

OK, looking at the chart, do I splice into both wires,or just one of the wires? Also, which resistors do I get? They have a bunch of them, some 1/2 watt, some 1 watt, etc.

Thanks

Either ½ or 1 watt should work. You connect one wire to one side of the resistor and the other wire to the other side of the resistor. It does not matter which goes where, as there is no polarity issue with a resistor.

Thanks man! Once again you got me out of a jam. What would cause it to stop working? What needs to be replaced? Once again, THANKS!

Well, off to work!

If putting in the resistor bypass makes it work, the key cylinder, it's wiring or even the key could be at fault.
