Need thoughts on Opti
I bought a 95 Formula which I am converting to a race only. It will run IHRA pure stock. I plan to turn the motor about 6K, maybe a little less. The motor is basically stock except for removing all power, AC, and pollution equipment. I have a 4L60E with 29.5 slicks and 4.10 in the Moser 12 bolt. My question is this, the stock Opti has 106K on it but is still working fine. No codes and the car went 14.5 bone stock. Should I replace the entire Opti or just put a MSD cap and rotor kit on it and go? Also, is it the opinion of the forum that the Opti's for Partsladi on E-bay are real Delphi/Delco units?

I'd run it until it needs to be replaced and then replace the hole opti. Thepartsladi is for real, I have one of their Delphi units and it works beautifully.
BTW - there's still alot more weight you can pull out of that car.

Race cars work best with “new parts” and that is particularly true with LTX engines and their supporting parts (Optis, 4L60Es, Etc.).
There isn’t anything worse than going to a big race and some “nickel and dime” item failing and taking you out of the event (entry fees, hotel, tow vehicle gas, Etc. $$$$).
For example; most serious drag racers will completely tear-down and inspect both their engine and transmission off season every year. The ideological approach “if it is currently good, it will continue to be good” just doesn’t apply with drag racing. “Murphy’s Law” however does apply!
