Need some serious major help.

My 97 z28 camaro has a SES light on, and we figured out it was coming from the bank 1 catalyitc converter because I had it gutted years ago. Well the only way I can get it inspected is to have the SES light out. That one converter is close to 600 dollars. There is no way on earth I will pay that much for something like that. You guys have any ideas. Is there a way have one made like that or have something done to knock the SES light out long enough for me to have it inspected. I am at the point of having to take the tags off the car if I cant figure something out, because I am in school and dont have the funds right now to pay that ridicilous price.

When you disconnect your battery will the reconnect wipe the light out?

It wipes the light out, but for only about 10 miles. It needs to stay out for at least 20 miles. What do you mean tuned out? I need all the info I can get.

Both were guttted, and the passenger side was fixed, but the driver side never was. It has been like this for the last three years, but each time somehow I have been able to have it knocked out long enough to have it inspected.

normally they stick a tube up your tailpipe (lol) to check emissions, just get a set of performance hi-flo cats from summit and put them on. Taking a light off won't fix your exhaust fumes, just blind you to the reality of a gutted cat.

depends on where you are, emmissions are different for every county let alone every state

Sims? I am in North Carolina, and all they do is hook the car up to a machine and if it reads that the SES light is emisions related you are screwed. Guys would a converter from a junk yard work? If so what year could it be. Sad thing is the car runs perfect (knock on wood), but because of some bull s$%& law I am going to have to take the tags off and park it.

O2 simulators. They make the computer think the emissions are great and that you are not killing any tree's.
