need some cam suggestions

as it says, mods are in sig. I've also done several searches and haven't come up with what I'm looking for. No plans to do any head work at this time. Looking for a good "torquey" midrange cam with good numbers under the curve. Definetly want to avoid "overcamming" so I'm trying to get as much info as possible. Car is my daily driver and will probably not see the track, is an M6 and will have 4.10's in soon. Looking at an xe grind 230/236; anyone running this cam w/stock heads? Any dyno sheets? Will also go w/1.6rr's. All suggestions appreciated

Well as you can see in my sig....I'm running the XE 224/230. I love it!!! Good mid range and with my M6 I didn't notice any dif in the bottom end. Pulls VERY STRONG to 6000rpm. I am adding heads over the winter and I am running 1.6 rr's.

That's a good thread to read.

How does that dyno chart look? Sounds like what you want to me.

Ditto. My buddy has this cam and likes it. I wouldn't go 230/236 cam unless you go heads. I know you have gears but my 230/236 has some decent amts of cam surge and my buddies has almost no cam surge and he has stock gears. I would say the 224/230 is a better daily driver cam.

Re: need some cam suggestions

I have the Xe 224/230 cam and it's pretty strong. The fact that you have a manual may let you get away with th e Xe 230 236 but it will lope and be a bit nasty. Ion can tune out some of the surge but it will not completely go away. Heck, mine lopes quite a bit for being 224 degrees intake. If you look at what guys are running with the 306 or other bigger cams, you will notice that their mph might be higher but their quarter times aren't much faster if at all to the smaller cams with stock heads. The heads only breathe so much. Over - camming will net you little gains on top and cost you serious torque down below.

If you don't want lope and you have stock headss, you might consider the Crane 210/224 cam. People have gone as quick as 11.60 with this cam and stock heads. Pulls strong past 6000 and plenty of area under the curve.
