Need some advice..pushrod/lifters/cam

Hey guys, Ive been reading and researching this board for a pretty long time and now i actually need some advice. Id really appreciate you guys pointing me in the right direction. Here is the deal...

I have a 95 z28. Be nice as i have recently converted from the turbo DSM world. Im putting the hotcam kit in while its down. Shes also getting pacesetter LT's, ORY, Cold air, Air foil, maybe the TB bypass, LT4 timing set, all new gaskets(head, intake etc..),PCM or Madz28 tune. Already has SLP loudmouth. 4L60e by the way. I'm getting new lifters and pushrods as well. My goal is to be around 330-340 rwhp, just for some daily driving honda eating fun!!(not worried about emissions).

Now...where i need some help is with the pushrods and lifters. I was just going to go with stock replacements of each, but after some research on here ive decided to go with chromolly pushrods(overkill or not) and i was also intrigued by the new thread on the LS series GM lifters. http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/4674...es-Engines.htm.

*So now i dont know what length PR to get or if it changes depending on what lifters i go with. I have no idea how to measure or where to get the tool. And im unsure as to if the 1.6 RR's in the hotcam kit are NSA or SA...My head is a jumble as you can see..please help! lol

Thanks a lot guys!

You can get the tool through jegs or sumitt. $20-$30 just buy one and check it yourself to be on the safe side.

Checking it with a length checker is always the safest bet. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=4&pcid=17

Do yourself a solid and have your heads worked on---at least have the valve pockets done and the ports cleaned up. As long as you have the heads off and you are installing RRs and springs, you might as well improve your flow numbers to enhance the cam. You don't have to go hog wild on the heads for the numbers you are looking for, so if you save money by using OEM lifters instead of the LS jobbies you can probably find someone who will give you an honest days work on the heads for a decent price. Thanks bubba, Yeah i am having having them cleaned and checked and all that good stuff. I thought about a mild port as well, but it seems everyone in my area charge an arm and a leg. And the LS jobbies are actually a couple bucks cheaper then the GMPP roller lifters. So for the same price, id rather go with the LS ones that everyone is talking about in the thread on the next page. Do i have guide plates on the 95. I dont think i do but i didnt take notice when we took it apart...Im a weekend warrior..My friend thats helping is the mechanic.

I don't believe that you have guide plates, but someone may correct me on that. I have SA RRs on my 97, but I bought hardened PRs just for the hell of it. As far as the heads, the most important, and, beneficial part is blending the pockets and unshounding the valves and grinding the port's guide boss. Shouldn't take a pro more than 6 hours and the gains may get you an extra 40-50 hp. No need to polish or spend much time, other than cleanup on the intake manifold.

I would think that you can have them done for around 400 bucks. But I understand where you are coming from if you can't afford that much at this time. Just sayin' that with the Hot Cam, Headers, and the heads, you should be able to knock down 350 RWHP easily. JMHO
