Need to remove oil filler neck

Just like the title says. I need to remove/reduse the height of the filler neck to make room for the bracket I made for my N2O noids (the bracket is degsined to hang off the STB). Is there a oil cap that just screws into the valve cover. If so anyone have any part #'s? I know the LT-4 valve covers have this set up, but I am not ready to spend that much $ right now to shorten my filler neck. Is a breather possible? What is the part number for a good breather that screws right into the valve cover? Is a breather a bad idea? Any thought or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Re: Need to remove oil filler neck

Both Metco and K&N sell breather kits for the passenger side valve cover to replace the oil filler/cap. The Metco looks nicer and its metal so the threads don't strip. I have the K&N which is plastic and you gotta be careful screwing it in.

I'm the 2nd owner of my Firebird and the filler neck was gone when I bought it. The factory cap was screwed directly into the valve cover....

This will probably reopen the debate over using a breather at all in a sealed system...

On a stock LT1, the stock oil cap can be screwed directly into the valve cover. Just remove the neck, and you're off and running.

If you want it to breathe, just don't tighten the cap
