I have a 1996 lt1. It had a spun main so i am having to rebuild on a budget. Here is what i have planned bored 30 over, cc306, 1.6rr. 10.5cr, port and polish stock heads, 30lb injectors and 52 tb. It is an auto car also. With whats in my sig and this combo what are yalls opinions on this setup. I looking for a strong street car that might hit 11.5 to 12.0 in the 1/4 also any suggestions needed. also clearance probs? thanks in advance

You'll need a stall converter for a cam like the CC306

I would go with a 2800 or a 3000 stall may work a little better. And a trans cooler for sure.

A stall will loosen up the shifts so you may want to think about something like a transgo shift kit or B&M to firm things back up.

listen to the guy above about a4's trans's. I have an m6 so i will be no help.
Why the cc306?
Who is going to do your heads? Have you thought about Llyod Elliot or AI?
Do you already have the 30 lb injectors?

I would look into a LE1 package. Leave the stock tb on the car, dont port the intake manifold, get 32 or 36 lb injectors. You should be 360-380rwhp. Enough to run low low 12's, high 11's. There will be many variables that will come into play.

The biggest for et's would be the stall, gears, and cam. They can be for drag racing, dd, or a mix. But the choice here will deteremine: mpg's, shift points, et's and mph, driveability, etc. All the big things

Since you have to have the crank machined or replaced why not put a 3.75" stroke crank and some Scat 4340 I beams and forged pistons and build a budget 383?

all i have to say is good luck sticking to a budget. especially if your the kinda guy that believes in the "well while im here" saying.

you'll also need springs, and possibly rockers which might lead to guide plates and hardened pushrods. (see what i mean, its an addiction lol)

It just makes the most sense to build a 383 or a 396. You can get a cast crank for a couple hundred bucks and pick up another 50hp over a 355. All the other parts are the same regardless. You can also go with a bigger cam.
Even if you put stock heads back on it (they will choke the motor) when you have the money to put some ported heads on it you'll see an even bigger improvement.

i don't think you will pick up much hp by going bigger. but the torque will be an huge improvement.
