Need LT1 Head Gasket Recommendations (& other gaskets for that matter)

So I'm finally about to put my LT1 back together. I wish I had an awesome LT1 build thread story to tell you... but I don't. It's going back together stock and even that took months to save for.

I'm assuming I need to use at least GM or better head gaskets. I can get GM of course easily enough, but is there any benefit or need to do 'better'? And if so, who makes better? Keeping in mind it's a stock engine with stock compression.

And for that matter, all the rest of the upper end gaskets. The exhaust gaskets were metal shims, and that was new to me. This is my first aluminum head engine though. Should I just get an entire engine gasket set from GM?

you could use the .026 victor reinz head gaskets to bump your compression up a little..

This is all uncharted territory for me... back in the olden days, thinner head gaskets also meant more likely to blow.

But the LT1 gaskets on my car had metal on all the prominent edges. Seems like the only way to blow that is with warpage. Which is what mine did.

So maybe nowadays, thinner really doesn't make them any more likely to blow?

if your heads are flat i would use them...
modern head gaskets are far better than the old steel shim head gaskets..
