Need help with torque converter

What is the difference between a lockup and non-lockup? I am looking at the Midwest converters and getting a 3200 stall with a 2.0 str. The lockup part is the last thing to confuse me. Hopefully have it in the car in a couple weeks.

Lockup will give you better gas milege. Best way to put it is it feels like your car shifts into a 5th gear on the interstate.

I would really give some thought to the 2.5 STR. I would only look at the lock-up converters. If you don't, you might as well have a TH350 or TH400.

Have you heard of the OBDI high stall shift problem? Something to think about, if you have'nt already.
It can be a real pain in the a$$.
Definately get a lockup converter.

Sounds like your car is fairly stock except for the cam. Looks like the cam killed your bottom end and added some MPH to the top end.

Lockup is what you want. I just went with a Vigilante 2600 stall and it's GREAT. A totally different car now. Don't go too high on the stall speed. You need just enough to get you up toward your peak torque. I also re-worked all the shift points and TC lockup which made a world of difference.
