need help with ticking

Hi - i need some help in diagnosing some ticking noise from under the engine.

I've taken off the rocker cover, and with the engine running and a mech. stethoscope I've sort of located the source. I sounds like its coming from the passenger side #6 cylinder / rocker arm.

I've checked and ruled out exhaust leak, egt leaks, and look spark plug or wires. I've put some cd2 into the crankcase in case its lifter noise but it doesn't seem to help.

The tapping occurs at idle and higher rpms.
Does it sound like lifter noise or somthing else? any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: need help with ticking (Solved - MMO is the word)

After several months of tick tick tick I finally fixed the problem.

First I tried eveything to locate the problem including the stethescope and garden hose thing. I sounded like it was coming from below the valve covers but could not tell for sure. I even adjusted the rockers.

Today I changed the oil and poured in a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO). BTW It was -1C or 30F today and I was laying on the driveway. Took her for a drive afterwards and slowly the ticking disappeared . I'm going to say it was a stuck lifter.

I'll wait a month then change out the oil again .

Thank goodness!!!!

BTW I recently bought an AutoTap. It's great. Anyone in the Toronto area that needs a scan just send me an email.
