I've done a search, but could not find this...so.....

On my 97 Z, I can sometimes start it, sometimes not. If it does start, it runs great, no problems on driving, it will not shut-off in mid-drive, just fine.

When it does NOT want to start, I turn the key and I hear 'click', then all the electrical shuts off, no instrument lights, no power to even the door locks, locks up the radio etc. I can give it a few minutes, yell at it, and after it has time to think about what it has done, I can turn the key and gt the same 'click' followed by the same symptoms.

I was about to replace the starter, but that [to me] does not seem to fix the electrical "short" problem of no lights etc.

So who is the F-bod god that can solve this dilema?

Check the battery cables to see if they are loose or dirty. .
