I have a cracked long tube header on the passanger side of my 94 Firebird (LT1) and need help on how to remove it so I can fix it.

Take off the alternator, oil dipstick, possibly the valve cover if you have the EGR fitting on it, and of course the 6 header bolts. Also, disconnect it from the y-pipe by taking off the three bolts, if it is the flanged style, or the exhaust clamp, if it is a slip-fit style header. It should then come out the top with a little patience.

There's no way it's coming out the top. Get it in the air and take it out from the bottom.

I had no problem getting my passenger side long tube in and out from the top. The drivers side I had to snake in through the bottom.

Just an idea.....

Would it be possible to repair, maybe weld while still installed on the car? This would be my route (if it's possible). Like maybe even unbolt them for movement, but not remove them for the repair.

I would not want to install/remove headers any more than absolutely needed.

It all depends where the crack is.If its on the bottom of the primary,it would be better to remove it.It isnt THAT difficult.
