Exclamation need help with overheating after waterpump install

ok ..new waterpump in ..everything hooked up and the car is overheating ...check gages light coming on and everything.

I bled the system only one time , nothing but coolant came out .
. System took about 8 min to overheat.
have a new 180 t-stat,new pump, and 1 month old radiator, tho i didnt check to make sure the t-stat opened before puttin it in.

EDIT* the fans DID NOT kick on as it overheated but they DO turn on when i turned the AC/heat on full blast .

so what should i check and how? how can u hear the pump working? does it take several bleedings to get all the air out?
what signs should i look for if its only the temp reading sensor thats not working.

AS ALWAYS, thanks so much for your help.
Josh

what would cause my fans not to turn on when the temp got high. Would it be the coolant temp sensor not telling the PCM that it's getting hot in huurr? I'm sure the fans work, because they turn on w/ the A/C and heat.

also, what would signs be for a stuck thermostat?

thanks in advance

My theory on the fans not working, is that the temp sensor in the water pump isn't immersed in coolant, so it isn't reading the temp accurately [ like if you run low on coolant there sometimes can be no 'heat' from the heater]
When you turn AC on the PCM tells the fans to come on ...[regardless of temp..]
The dash gage temp sensor is in the cyl head, so that may be reading hot.. even tho the PCM sensor isn't..
Is this a stock or electric WP[confused by your Q 'how do you hear if it's running'?.. if the stock pump is IN[with the coupling of course] it has to be turning..
If it's an electric, you can jump it, and run it without the car running, and even bleed it without the car running..
[if an electric..] make sure it isn't running 'backward'
And yes, these cars can be real tricky to bleed, and they will spit and spew if not [or until] bled correctly..
