Unhappy Need Help!(OBD2 TO OBD1 converstion)

Heres the short story. I bought a 96 Z28. I removed the motor from my 94 Formula and installed it in the Z. I also installed the OBD 1 ECU in the Z. The car starts and runs fine, but while at WOT and around 5000rpms you can feel a power loss. No Check eng. light or any thing. Now if you unplug the mass air and make the car run in failsafe it revs fine, all the way through the rpm range.

Now the question--- The only thing I did not change over to the 96 from the 94 is the wireing harness. Is there something in the harness itself that would cause a screwy readingto the ECU? Or if you think you know what might be the cause please post.
Thanks.

First of all, you need to swap to an OBDI knock sensor and also you need to use proper programming, although it should run ok as is right now too.

Yes, you need to change the knock sensor on the side of the block to the OBD1 sensor..The OBD2 cars have a different resisitance than the OBD1's..I bet your PCM is pulling loads of timing at 5k..

Yup, because right now you are giving up 12-15* of timing!

There might be something else wrong too. A wrong knock sensor will set an SES.

The knock sensor is a OBD 1, because the whole motor was in my 94. I dropped the complete powertrain out of the 96 and put the powertrain from my 94 in its place The only thing I did not change is the 96 harness.
