Re: Need Help With Lt1 Oil Pump

in 93 the oil pump will be the same pump used on nearly all small block chevy engines. By 95 the LT1 used an oil pump with a larger pickup tube, 5/8 instead of 1/2.

you can get a pump from about any parts store, or the GM dealer if you want the real deal.

usually oil pumps dont just "go out" what has led you to belive the oil pump is bad?

theres no oil pumping into the heads. me and my cousin adjusted his rocker arms and noticed that there was no oil pumping out anywhere. he had oil and his oil pressure guage shows it has zero pressure.

Could be more than the pump.
The guage is electrical (even back on 93s I think) Use a mechanical one if possible.
With my roller rockers I get very little oil all the way up top. Its plenty, but it doesn't spray it like some vehicles I have worked on.

yeah, everything knocks. he was racing some ss and when he punched it his oil guage went down and started knocking lightly. when he got home he got worse and worse so its been parked for 4 months until he finally called me. what else could it be other than the oil pump. i didnt see any crimps or faulty lines.

Re: Need Help With Lt1 Oil Pump

haha needs a new engine. that knocking is his crankshaft eating up the rod and/or main bearings. hopefully he didn't run the car alot after it started knocking. it may not have destroyed the crankshaft.

that's probably what the crank is gonna look like when he rips it apart.
