Need Help with Jet Hot installation

don't know if u guys remember or not, but i tried to install some jet hot longtube headers myself a week ago or so, and couldn't get them in

i took them to a guy and he can't get the drivers side in either. he has the valve cover off, steering shaft off, and it is still hitting the frame coming in from the bottom, and hitting a rocker and valve spring coming in from the top. any suggestions????i need to get this finished, i called jet hot and they said i have the correct part, it just doesn't fit..???

Did you try removing the bolt from the drivers side motor mount and tilting it to the passenger side. Thats pretty much all you can do aside from hoisting the whole motor up in the air and putting them in from the bottom.

My driver side went right in. I had the steering shaft and plugs removed, and naturally the number 1 tube. Car wasn't but about foot off the ground. Seems every one has a different experence with them though.

I only had a problem with the pass. side. That was corrected by jacking the motor a good 3.5" which I knew i had to do. Driver's side took me all of 15 seconds from the bottom with the steering linkage together and motor resting on its mounts still. I had the car up a good 2 feet. Jack up the driver's side or both sides and slide the header right in.

have you pulled the motor mount bolt and jacked up the drivers side? A good amount of people say you don't have to jack up the drivers side on SLP shorties but me and my friend both had to that doesn't mean we have defective headers. Just jack up the motor and get it in there.

I put in a brand new set of poly motor mounts before I installed my jet hots and the passenger side slid right in no problems (don't have any emmisions or heater box/ac if that matters) but to get the driver side in I needed to remove the long motor mount bolt and jack the driver side of the motor as high as possible and it was still a struggle. I didn't need to take the valve cover off though. I think you just need to lift the motor, not really a big deal.

ok, i got my new one from jet hot, the 2 headers were deffinately different,,,but same problem, we had to cut the half tube about 1/4 inch, then it went in. i know my car has never been wrecked, and judging by how just the 2 drivers side headers i had were different, i wouldn't recomend them.

they sound good though

I pretty much have given up trying to get the drivers side in. I have tried every way possible and I just don`t see it going in.
It comes the closest to going in from the top, but the half pipe still hits on the part of the steering shaft that comes through the firewall and it will just not drop in.
I assume you cut yours so it would go in through the top?
The only way I see it going in from the bottom is if I had a tubular k-member. I may just send them back to be recoated ( I scratched them up trying to get them in) and just get a new k-member and do it that way.
