Need Help with Ignition Key Cylinder
Hi all,
Hope someone could help me! I have a 96 z28 and I am changing the ignition key cylender the whole unit since I dont have keys. The VIN does not help because the lock was changed prior so the key cut does not fit.
So If I buy a ignition cylinder with new keys and the Chip do I need to take the car to the dealership so that they reset the computer? If so is there a way arround it?
Thx Guys very much!!!

The dealer cannot "reset" anything to allow a key with the wrong pellet to work. Your new key must have the same pellet resistance value as your old key or you will have to also buy a new VATS module. You can also bypass/disable the VATS by using a resistor of the same value as your old key.
