need help with headers

ok so i am purchasing pacesetter long tubes with an off road y and no egr or air hookups cuz ive already gotten those deleted, but when i get these headers and y they will come with all nec. bolts and gaskets and wiring and shrink sleeves for the o2 exensions...now do i need to buy anything else like new o2's or can i use the existing ones...also how much would it cost to have an exhaust shop to weld my headers to y and to my flomaster cat back? Also does neone know any shops around in georgia i can tak my car to get my cat codes deleted so i can pass emmisions?? also how much would this cost...basically what can i expect to pay after i get my headers and y in order to get them all welded and installed and have my codes deleted...thanks a bunch for anyone who can help

Yes, the headers will come with the bolts, gaskets, wires and sleeving to extend your 02 harnesses, ect. However, the gaskets are not the best and I personally feel that cutting and splicing your 02 harnesses is a tad risky. I would suggest getting some better header gaskets, you can get a good pair of Fel-Pros for 20.00 and some 02 harness extensions which will plug into your existing harness and extend it, no cutting or splicing necessary. These will run about 20.00 a piece. Also, the bolts they supply are adequate, I am still using them, but there are better alternatives out there such as Breslins, ARPs, or Stage 8s. Also, a mail-order tuner can delete the rear 02s for you or you can run 02 sims. Not sure about the cost to weld the y-pipe to your cat-back. I am guessing around 50.00-75.00

Re: need help with headers

i spent around 30 at meineke(sp?) to weld the Y to the I only. but they also had to make a reducer from 3" to 2.5" i believe. I would go ahead and buy o2 extensions because they will have a much better connection than a crimping job, plus you dont have to worry about the hassle of cutting and crimping. its just one of those things that if you dont mind spending 40 bucks or so, it would be worth it.

actually, if you get the wire crimps that have heat activated glue in them, they work great. I did that for mine, and not one single problem after three years. But, if I had to do it again, I would have just bought the damn plug and play wire harnesses. Learn from my mistake and spend the 40 bucks!

Re: need help with headers

That is a "flat-style" simulator, you need the "square-style" connectors for the rear-02s. You can get them from www. thunderracing.com, they will run the same amount as the ones you found there on ebay.

Re: need help with headers

thank you very much for the link...and these are for sure going to solve my check engine light for the catalytic converter delete?? so i guess once i order these and get them plugged in all ill need to do is get a heat sheild welded up on my pipe to get visual inspection passed...also if i get these sims...will i need to get extensions for them also?? or will they reach the o2 hookups on my pacesetters?

The 02 simulator plugs into the connector that originally plugs into the rear 02 sensor, therefore you will not need extensions for those. You will need extensions for the front O2 sensors as the harness will have to span a longer distance. And yes, once you put in the simulators your SES light should not be triggered once you run your off-road ypipe with no cats.

occasionally, the coating in the header can mess up an o2 sensor or two. if you have old/bad ones laying around, id use those when you first start it up after the install.
