Will this be good enough to accomodate a 305, and AFR 180cc heads?

Block: Thermally cleaned and Stainless Steel Shot. Inspected by MPI process. Decked, bored, honed with torque-plates and pressure washed. Clevite cam bearings and pioneer brass freeze plugs installed.
4-bolt main caps and ARP main studs.

Crank: Eagle cast steel, internal balanced front and rear

Rods: Scat 4340 forged steel rods, 6” length, floating pin

Pistons: Keith Black HyperEutectic

Rings: Speed Pro Plasma-Moly

Bearings: Clevite Main and Rod Bearings

Core Plugs: Brass Pioneer core plugs

Dynamic Balancing: Full rotating assembly dynamic balancing

Main Studs: ARP performance main studs


This is Golens 350ci shortblock. It's 2599$. This time around, I want my bottom end to hold up more than 10 miles . My bottom end im guessing because we haven't pulled the motor is not worth rebuilding (threw a rod). I want this to LAST a long long time without having to tear down the motor for a 3rd time.

Can any of you come up with something better for a 305 and afr heads? Or do you think this is exactly what i need? Would u advise changing any one component, if so what?

 

I plan on a LE3 H&C with a 100 shot over winter. With stock block/crank/pistons ect.. No reason why it shouldint hold up.

 

Sounds like a good deal except the hyperucraptit pistons. I would want forged.

Yeah, I agree; except that if the engine described is the beginning and end of the build, with no nitrous or other adders planned, then the KB Hypers should be fine. Nothing wrong with the things, they just hate detonation.


You know, I was just remembering when Hypers were considered the hot ticket for performance on the street.

Stronger and lighter than cast but can be set up tighter than forged.

Of course, that was when 400 flywheel HP was considered pretty damn good for a street motor.

Nowadays people are building street motors with higher power than the old drag-strip motors.


Man, if I knew then what I know now....

 

What are the chances of my valvetrain being ok after this? Mech stuck a magnet in the oil pan and found metal filings. Could these metal filings potentially ruin my new heads, cam, lifters, rockers or anything else?? If my $1600 brand new heads are ruined, im so fu**ed.
