Question need help fast please.

I Just got my car on the road last night from winter storage, everything worked great and ran fin then this morning I was driving for approx 2mins and i looked at the temp gauge and it was spiked at the top, the car wasnt even warmed up yet and I was taking it easy. What could this be? sensor, bad thermostat due to the car sitting all winter? Also the fans come on like they should.

Any help would be appreciated
I just really need to figue this out before I have a serious problem on my hands.

What year is the car? Is it a Camaro, Firebird, Impala SS, what? Is it modified a lot or is it stock? You ought to put this stuff in your signaure, that would help.

On second thought, if the car wasn't warmed up yet, then one could conclude that the sensor must be boogered since if the car wasn't warmed up yet, it couldn't be hot.JMHO

Check the wire going to the temp sensor located in the driver's side head, between spark plug 1 and 3.
