Need help with emission compliant 355 combination

I've been doing a bunch of reading trying to find out about emission legal, reliable setups. Search button works well, but most seem to be for non emission cars.

I've got a block that needs to be cleaned up to 355. I am going to use the stock crank and probably a set of forged rods (original rods spun a couple bearings) with some new pistons. My car is a daily driver, rain or shine. It has an M6 now and a set of BBK shorties and SLP loudmouth to go on this summer.

I've talked to Lloyd a bit to get to this point, but don't want to keep bugging him. I am looking to see what others have done as far as setups. What kind of mpg, dyno numbers and seat of the pants feel they are getting after the mods were completed. Thanks, appreciate it.

as far as emissions, it will all be in your cam. keep your Lobe seperation wide and that will help a bunch. bret bauer makes llyods cams, so ask him about some emission compliant cams and setups

The cam profile will be the most important consideration. Higher flowing heads will have little effect on emissions. Too high a compression ratio can raise nox. A 355 with a cam in the low 220's @.050 on the intake and 11.0:1 comp would be about border line with a good tune for CA emissions.

My set-up is a stock short block with a Hot cam, mildly ported heads/intake, stock valves and 10.8:1 comp. pcmforless tune, slp dual cat shorties w/cats and basic bolt-ons. It passed the IM240 test they used to have here in Jersey(similar to CA) several times. The Hotcam is not technically emissions compliant but will pass. Best time stock 13.98 @99, after mods12.61 @ 110+

Lost about 15-20 miles on a tank of fuel but I no longer drive the car the same, its like a nervous cat that just wants to run...and I let it

I would definitely go with a custom cam and nail the setup with a very good tune. Also, although long tubes are a good route to go exhaust wise, they are still technically not emissions legal due to how they move the stock catalytic converter position.

With the right set-up you should be able to hit 370 - 390 RWHP with your M6 and still meet your emission goals. Trust what Lloyd and Bret tell you, and you will not be disappointed.
