need help on the dowel pin for my XE 224/230

hey guys,

i bought a used cam from some guy, its the xe 224/230 and the pin is short...like that used in the crappy...early...optisparks.

i'm using that new combonation motorsports timing chain which needs the longer pin and newer opti.


can i pull it out...can i have machine shop change the cam pin?


need to know the info

Yes.. no big deal, have someone yank it out & put the correct pin in. IIRC the lengths are .320" and .600" respectively.

For replacement, those without the resources, need to get a replacement for gm. Those pins, like head dowels are bastard undersize. You can use a std. dowel to start with, just need to grind/polish down a couple of thou.
