need help diagnosing a noise...

OK, I have a small vibration (I believe) that I cannot find. I will try to describe it. I completely understand that stuff like this is hard to diagnose over the net. But I'm outta options.

Alright scenario. Its pretty cold outside right now. Below freezing all day. When I make a left turn I hear a noise that almost sounds like a tire bottoming out on a turn. In other words like it is too wide for the well. They are stock size and only recently have started to make this noise. Now, I would leave it at something scraping. But the other day while making a left turn I had to stop with my wheels still in the direction of turning left. So I was not moving. And it made the same noise. The only thing that I could possibly think of it being is the power steering pump vibrating. But that just doesn't make any sense on only a left turn. Heck it shouldn't be under that much more pressure no matter what. Any ideas on what it could be would be great. Its definitely a vibration.

Thanks a lot....

From my experience, it is not that unusual to hear some creaky, scraping like noises from the suspension when it is real cold out (not just on f-bodies). Most times I hear it, is going over speed bumps where the suspension has to travel a little more. I don't know if this has anything to do with your situation, but I thought I would throw it out there.

O, I definitely get that as well, Big Time But it was colder last year and this noise was nowhere to be found (or heard) I have thought of it being suspension related. But I am leaning more towards exhaust or steering related, such as power steering pump or Rack Pinion.

LIVING WITH IT

Oh do i know what your talking about the mystery noise. Iv had one of these for almost 9months now. Its been to 2 dealers, 3 suspensions shops and im told EVERY TIME, that they cant find anything wrong at ALL. And to be honest the car isnt doing anything abnormal at all either. I put lowering springs, that didnt do any change, i put the stock springs back on, still there, put all new strust and shocks on still the same, changed every mount you could think and still no change. Its just there the mystery "NOISE". Sometimes its there, sometimes its not, i'm pretty sure its just someting my car has decided it wants to do. But i hope yours has a better ending.

OK, I need you alls opinion on this theory. I've known that I had a cracked manifold on the passenger side for awhile now. I just noticed yesterday that it is cracked all the way through. So, here is the theory. I only get the noise when making a left turn and occasionally have it if I stop right away after a left turn. Is it likely that the noise is the manifold rattling at the crack? The crack is after the last cylinder before the O2, right at the downward bend. Could body flex in the turn separate it enough to cause this? I have MAC Mids on order as we speak. But I'd like a little PofM now...

Its god telling you to eat more chicken?

I bet its something you'll have to learn to live with. I wouldnt spend too much money trying to fix a noise. Maybe thats just me, but I have bigger fish to fry than that(like intake manifold leak, bad ignition module etc etc)

My car has nay to make a single odd noise since I bought it, and it will stay that way. Thank you for your comment, but since I do not have mechanical problems, I choose to invest my time in small things. Letting things go with these cars is how they end up being sold to someone with 5-10 teeth in their mouth....

Maybe your balljoints? Just a guess? Whenever I'm in reverse with the wheel turned all the way, I hear and feel a popping noise coming from the front? I know it's not a popping noise your hearing, but maybe something in that area
