I got the same prob right now.

Was driving fine and parked it for a like 2-3 hours and then when i started the car and let it warm up a bit. It shudders when driving on the lower rpm espically when from a stop, and the exhaust sounds a little louder. Not to mention that the it lopes like hell and it's stock cam.

I thought it would be one of the plug wires that is a little close to the exhaust, but after careful examination it wasn't that. So i'm clue less right now.

Lightbulb 4th of july under the hood

check it out bro. i had the exact same problem after i put headers on my car. what had happened was, while putting the headers in i accidentally hit one of the plugs with the header. it made a hair line crack in the #1 plug. after everything got buttoned up i took it for a drive and noticed that it would stutter in low rpms and also when the skip shift kicked in. i thought it was either a fuel delivery problem or an ignition problem. fuel pressure checked fine, so i started to rip in to the ignition system. replaced coil, ICM, and opti. nothing problem got a little better but it was still there. so i looked under the hood one night to see if i could see the fireworks. and what do you know, i had some really bad arching on # 1 spark plug. it had a hair line fracture from the header install. so you might want to check plug and wire. i had the same problem you had. good luck hope this works.

sounds familiar

first check plug wires, plug condition?, coil wire and coil condition, if all are ok , fuel filter under car, if all still the same then it could be the optispark starting to go out.

my car did just what you described and it was the good old optispark.

replaced with the dynaspark, expensive but car runs great and miss free

thanks for the good info guys.

Now, i did change my headers, and i very well could have bumped a wire. I changed the plugs and wires about 5 months ago, so i know they arent going bad. But im fearing the opti, i dont know how to change that, but i will figure it out.

Fuel fliter has been changed.

i guess tonight i will check for the firework show.

how much was that dynaspark?

hold on to your butt

it was 610 including shipping.

it is very high but quality is the very best out there and i plan on never selling this car, i bought it brand new in april of 94.

they will rebuilt it for about 38 dollars as long as their seal is not broken regardless of miles.

Check your MAP sensor. Also you could have a rip in your intake elbow. Check the plugs and wires to see if they are touching the headers or if a wire is lose. Trust me, check all the simple CHEAP things. I thought my opti was going, but it turned out to be bad msd wires.
