need help car died

I shut of my car and it started buzzing and smelled really bad. I tried to start it and it started clicking like a dead battery but then after cranking it over a couple of times it wont start or even attempt to turn over and no clicking. The lights radio everything works. When i try and turn it over it shows the coolent light. I just replaced my power sterring pump and fuel filter. Any ideas at all? Please help! Everything is apperciated!

The coolent is full and it didn't overheat either. I'm thinking starter.

Check for corroded battery terminals/grounds. Check fuses. It can be a starter too.

Re: need help car died

Solenoid stuck and kept the starter running even after the car was shut down. That was the noise and the smell you experienced. Happens to all of us eventually when you have the OEM starter long enough. Luckily it was only me and my wife when mine did it and I could still start the car until my Summit starter came.

When you get the new one, wrap it.

Re: need help car died

you may have blown a fuse when the old starter went out. Can you verify that you've got 12V at the starter and that you get 12V on the ignition wire on the starter. Old starter could have also damaged the battery

Re: need help car died

you should only get 12V on that ignition wire when the key is turned to start.

Which fuse is it and where? I don't have a voltmeter to measure the voltage to the starter or the ignition but the battery is fine I know for sure.
