Need Help bad
Me and my stepdad just put together a lt1 w/ 195cc trick flow heads, comp cam, 58mm throttle body, ported intake, 48lb injectors, and a vortech supercharger. the car has been tuned and the fuel pressure is also good at a 58psi. have had spark plug issues but switched to what the trick flow heads required thinking it would fix the problem and didn't. the car was running the quickest it has ever ran but 10 mins later started acting up! and thats when we switched to the plugs required by trick flow. now when it idles it skips a beat once in awhile and then when taking it out just driving around and getting on it the car chokes out like its not getting fuel or spark, please help this problem has us stumped thank you.
Who tuned it? How does the system add the extra fuel for the S/C.... with an FMU or boost referenced FPR, or via tuning? Do you have the stock 1 bar MAP sensor, or a 2 bar sensor? Does the fuel pressure hold at 58psi when the engine starts to miss? What were your specific "spark plug issues"? What plugs were you using? What plugs did you switch to? What plug gap are you running? Do you have an aftermarket ignition box like the MSD or similar? How much boost are you running?
Sounds like this might get better results on the Forced Induction forum.... but I'll wait until I see your answers before I move it.
Might also want to provide a "signature" with basic info about the car.... year, tranny type and a speciifc list of mod's if any beyond those you already posted. For example, if its a 95-97 with the vented Opti, how did you protect the Opti from excessive boost pressure?

Mad tuner tuned the car for me. we have put on a accel fpr. the vortech supercharger came with its own map sensor but i dont know if its a 1bar or two. how do i tell? the fuel pressure still stays strong when the car misses. my spark plug issuess started with boch platuim 4 installed a week later the car started running bad and would stall, looking into the engine compartment you could see the plugs arching, then we installed a cheaper aldelco plug and arching started two days after them being installed. so we called summit and found out my heads require special plugs, then we installed them two days ago and then the other problems started with the engine choking out. the plugs the heads requiered were champion spark plugs at .50 thousandths. the vortech supercharger came with crane cams hi-6r and its running around 6 pounds of boost. the opti i dont think is protected by the extreme heat any ideas? neither the opti or coil are new and we do have boots around the msd plug wires.
Madtuner had to know what MAP sensor you have to tune the car.... what did you tell him you had?
Put a set of non-platinum plugs, at least one step colder than stock (NGK TR6), gapped at 0.030-0.035". Do not use gimmick plugs like the Bosch4's. Were the AC/Delco plugs platinum? If so, its likely they lost the little platinum pucks, the gaps opened up, and the spark found it easier to cross-fire on the wires than to jump the gap on the plug.
I didn't ask about the Opti being protected from heat.... since the vented Opti connects to the inlet bellows and to the manifold, it will be under boost when the manifold is under boost.... not good for the case. But you have now added a signature showing a 94 LT1, so the vented Opti is not an issue.

be honest he did not ask what kind map sensor i had. the plugs that are in there now are non platinum plug. i ment to ask how i can protect it from the excessive boost. aany ideas on what this problem coupd be? i dont know if this helps at all but this morning we took the car out and unplugged the egr, and o2 sensors and the car ran but still did not have the power there. also when idleing if u disconnect the map sensor there is no change in the motors idleing.
