Need Help Bad!!
Need Help Bad!!
I am at wits end with my car. I blew an ignition fuse way back and replaced the opti and fuse. The car fired up, but it ran horrible. After shutting it down that day, the car hasn't started since. I have a 95', so I couldn't have put the opti in wrong. I checked the plug wire order 3 different times atleast. The car is getting fuel (that's all I can smell after cranking) and it is getting spark (atleast to 3 different plugs). I have tried 3 different programs and I can't even get it to hit. I just turns over. Sounds like I have the coil unplugged when I'm cranking it. Just doesn't even try to do anything. No "coughing", "gurgling", or "stumbling". What could be my problem?? I don't know what to do anymore. I did burn through two 02 sensor wires on the passanger side with the header, but I have fixed that. I also unplugged both 02 sensors just in case. I thought that the blowing of the ignition fuse could be my starting point, but I don't know what would even cause that. I am getting a "DTC Open fan failure" which no one has ever heard of. Help me please. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need Help Bad!!
Actually u can put the opti on wrong, by forcing the peg into the wrong slot. My friends car broke down about 5 hours from here and he had to go back down there to fix it. Put a new opti on it and it still wouldnt fire, came all the way back home without his car again. Went back down, took the opti off and discovered he had put it on wrong. He installed it again and it fired right up and he drove it home.

I thought 95's and newer only went on one way and one way only. I am pretty sure I got the opti on right. I lined it up, but I just thought if it snapped on, it was right. If I can't get anymore suggestions, then the damn opti will be coming off again. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Need Help Bad!!
Ive witnessed a vented opti installed wrong before too. Car wouldnt fire but it had spark.. we were scratching our heads for a long time trying to figure out the problem. Finally it was all or nothing so we pulled the opti and got it right the 2nd time.
Have you checked for spark?
Have you checked for spark?
Re: Need Help Bad!!
Yeah, it's getting a strong spark. Should that be my next thing, pulling the opti off? If so, I'll get started on it tomorrow. I lined it up and it snapped in, but I just figured since it did that, it was on right. I guess I was wrong in my assumption. I really need to find out what caused the ignition fuse to blow. The old opti was old, but apparantly it wasn't the problem. I figured if I hunt that reason down, the solution will be right there. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Need Help Bad!!
I did that. I put the motor together the first time and I didn't have a problem. I don't even remember because it was such a long time ago since I put the opti on, but I'm pretty sure I did that. I really need to figure out how you can blow an ignition fuse. I want to start there before I pull the opti off again. Thanks for the replies though, I appreciate it.
