Need Help ASAP with Head install
I'm putting my heads back on and my Haynes and the guy at the machine shop gave me torque specs and said I have to use a torque angle gauge. Well I bought the gauge but it didn't come with any instructions so how the hell do you use it? It came with an "L" shaped bar that you put into a hole then there's a screw that holds in place but I dunno exactly how to use it. any help is appreciated.

It is supposed to fit over a torque wrench to show you how far you should turn it past a certain torque. Generally with LT1 head bolts you are safe using 65 ft lbs of torque. I never used a torque angle gauge installing my ARP head bolts, make sure to use sealer on those bolts as well. Also, don't re use the old bolts because they are probably stretched.
Thanks for the info. I know how it is "suppose" to work but when I turn the wrench everything turns with it, am I suppose to hold it with my hand while I turn the wrench so it won't move, thats what I've been doing but it doesnt seem very accurate.
You don't need the gauge. Hell, even the Haynes manual just says to torque it in 3 steps to whatever the torque spec is (I'm too lazy to look at the exact wording in the book). No need for an angle gauge.
