Well the other day I found my way into a ditch. The car is mostly ok, just a few scuffs on the front bumper and a bent foglight. And my driver's side seat belt loop that's on the side of the seat broke, and now I'm trying to replace it. I've got the part, but I can't seem to figure out how to disconnect the seat belt so I can slip it through the new loop. Any help would be appreciated.

 

im pretty sure when i took my seat out i just unbolted the bottom part of the seatbelt thats on the floor next to the door.just need to twist off the plastic phillips shapped cover and then take that bolt off.

 

I tried twisting it off but it just spins. I'm guessing it will just pop off? I just don't want to break it.

 

It's hard to get it off without breaking it. It is suppose to spin off. Try putting a screwdriver under the lip of it, and spin it off.

 

OK, I got the cover off without breaking it. Now the hard part -- finding something to fit the darn screw. It's a 6 point star looking thing. BAH.

 

allen wrench? get a set and find the one that fits.

 

Yay, dug around in dad's toolbox for a while and finally found a bunch of allen wrench tips laying at the bottom. Got it fixed, thanks guys.

 

I'm surprised that you got an allen wrench to work without stripping that bolt out. The correct tool to use would have been a Torx wrench/bit.

 

yea sorry man. i also meant to suggest the torx bit but i 4got to post back until u posted it. i wa sthinking to myself, damn what if its a torx bit too hah well im gald he got it off.

 

Yeah it was a "Torx" or whatever, I didn't think it was an Allan Wrench.

 

Well, IF you find an allen wrench big enough to properly "lock" in there, then you should be ok. It works, you just run the risk of easily stripping it out.
