Need help with Accel injectors

I bought 48lb/hr Accels used. I am installing now but when I go to put the retaining clip on, I noticed something wierd. There are 2 grooves on the Accel injector. One groove goes all the way around, so the clip will fit. However, if you compare the injectors side by side and line the heights up, it looks like the clip should go in the 2nd slot (higher up), but it is not a full slot. This is preventing the clip from going in. Should I just not use the clip and rely on the fuel rail bolts to hold the injectors in place?

my bosch's did the same thing, once the injectors are in, you dont need the clips...so i put the clip on so it would fit with the injector sideways, and once they were in i turned them 90* so they were sitting right, the clips popped off, but then the injectors were aligned height wise...if you dont use them to align the hieght, they will leak

Wont the bolts holding the fuel rail down set the height?

mine didnt, it pushed the injectors too far into the manifold and not far enough into the fuel rail, so it would leak out of the fuel rail
