i have a 97 firebird iam changing the opti out on how often do the coils go out should i change it or not also what else should i do while iam under there

Might as well go ahead and change it out. Its only about 20 bucks. Are you doing wires as well? Id go ahead and do a complete spark tune(opti, coil, wires, plugs).
