Need GM Part No. for 3.73:1 gear set.

Okay, I need the original GM part number for the 3.73 to 1 ring and pinion gear set that fits our 10 bolt STOCK rears. Since my '97 6 speed came with stock 3.42:1 gears, my local GM dealer can only find the P/N for that gear set. Does anyone out there have the GM OEM part numbers for the 3.73:1 ratio ring and pinion set for our cars???

TIA for all replys

All that I know is that the GM gears are $80-$100 more than Richmond...etc

GM gears are still ~$500 even at wholesale prices. Way more than any aftermarket gear. Even if your "cost" price is lower, it's not going to be as low as aftermaket, I bet.

You will have to find the part number for someone with an S-10 or something. They did not put 3.73s in the F body, so there is no part number in the book. No one I know buys the gears from GM. Too much $$. The Motives are said to be as close to OEM as you can get.

Shoebox, once again your are "The Man". That may be the critical piece of info I need to solve this puzzle It is the S-10 trucks then that use the 3.73:1 rear axle ratio gearset that also fits our 10 bolt F-Body rear ends??? If this true, then I can always ask at the dealership for them to look up the S-10 ring & pinion P/N

If you are in MI, call Drive Train Specialists. I am pretty sure they can answer your question and probably give you a good deal on the gears.JMHO

First off, Bubba thanks for the tip on DTS Yep, I am up here in MI and I know they do pretty good install work.

Now, I just got off the phone with my local Chevy dealer and he says the GM part number for the 3.73:1 gearset for the S-10 truck rear end is P/N 26038402. Can anyone out there CONFIRM that this is the 3.73 ring & pinion set that will indeed fit the F-Body 10 bolt rear??? Thanks AGAIN for any and all replys

Doesn't Superior Gear make the gears that GM uses anyway? Do some research, and save some $$$$$$.
