Its a 22mm pipe plug. Just look for one of those. Cant tell ya exactly where to find one b/c I had a hell of a time locating a set also. Some guys say local hardware stores but none of the stores I walked into had anything even close. Might wanna try a plumbing store though since its a pipe plug or so they say.

22mmx1.5 drain plug. BMW dealership may have them, a couple of their cars use them. I found one at NAPA, and had to order the other one from canada. No one here carries them it seems.

I bought mine from a quick oil change station. Most should be able to come up with a working pair of the correct mm plug, as they need to have stock for oil changes.

I worked for a lube place, and we did not carry them, because 22mm x 1.5 isnt a size commonly used.

They make oil drain plugs that size. Call a local oil change shop ask if they have any or where they order them from. I got mine at a bumper to bumper store.

Re: Need a big Metric plug for air pump HELP!!

To set the record straight, the thread is not metric. Because the metric spec plug fits sloopy enuf, it will screw in. The thread is actually a std. thread of 18 TPI on the inverted flair fitting that is used by oem, which seals at the bottom of the nut, on the tubing flair. The metric plug, that has become popular, is 17 TPI, and is a slightly smaller OD thread.

When I render the AIR nonfunctinal, I modify the oem inverted flair nut/tube assembly with a plug in a short section of the oem tubing. This way I retain the seal at the tube flair itself, as designed by oem.

You don't have any specialty fastener shops around? Try finding one.. they should have it for sure. That's where I got mine.

22mm plugs are for stock manifolds. He has headers. It seems like almost every set of headers has a diff size/type of fitting. My SLPs are male fittings and require a cap not a plug. My suggestion is if the headers aren't on the car take them into a fastener store and find one that fits.

interesting point, but wouldn't most headers have the same size as stock in order for the air pump fitting to work with the headers?

You would think that but from posts i've read over the years is that about every headers has a type of fitting, or thread size. Also the size of the plug in stock manifolds diffs from 94-95 to 96-97 i believe. My buddy got some 22mm plugs to fit his stock 97 manifolds and they were to big i believe but they fit my 95 manifolds fine. I think header companies just i give you whatever fitting they want to and you have to get the adapters you need to make it work with your AIR fittings. Thats just my theory.

Are you sure of that? Just so the posters here understand, I stated in the above post, that the metric thread is 17 TPI. That by the way, is the 22 mm X 1.5 mm. thread I was referring to above. Again, are you sure, IOW, is that what the product fact/instruction sheet specified?

Yes I'm positive. And metric thread would NEVER be 17tpi because 17tpi isnt a metric measurement, and the AIR fittings are metric, says my 1400 page GM parts manual. The later OBD2 cars got smaller AIR bungs, and some 93 cars also had different AIR bungs.
