NEED to beat These Mustang's

I have two "friends" that drive mustang GT's one is a 2002 that ran a 14.6 best and the 1996 with an all time best of 13.9 He has worked on that for a while to get there. they are both 5 speeds but im running a A4. here is a list of what i have or getting before race.
1994 Z28 107,000miles daily driven by a older couple. I put in 160' thermo ,slp cold air ,cut off the cat ,3" cutout on stock exhaust right after y pipe, and TB bypass.

Not all this is on yet but will be on soon. I have no emmision in Oklahoma so what else can i pull off. I dont know what gears i have prabably 2:73 I can't put it in first becouse of the restricter. I need help i have to run A 13.9 and i am short on cash. I have not run my car once at the track yet. I dont know what gas i should run that day.

Any replies are good thanks Alot Max

Run 93 octane

You should be able to pull off something close to a 13.9 as you sit now depending on your tuneup right now. Change your plugs, wires to make sure the car is running good first.

Search for TB bypass and knock that out.

With seat time you'll pull that number, I highly doubt you'll get it on the first run with street tires.

I ran 13.89 with my bone stock 94Z A4 & 2.73s only mod was no air filter, you should be able to take them both right now, as mentioned above as long is your motor is running right.

good luck!

You should have no problem beating them even if your stock. I have a 94z28 and raced a 99 GT that claims he was running 13.8s and took him by close to 2 car lengths. I now have jet hot long tubes, off road Y pipe and and magna flow exhaust so i will have to see what happens this time.

My 94 z convertible ran 13.93 with morroso cold air induction, hypertec, 160 thermostat, hooker muffler, and stock tires. You shouldn't have to much of a problem. I just sold a 96 z with 160,000 miles, that had a flowmaster muffler and it ran 14.3 with severely high heat and humidity that day. good luck theres nothing like spanking a mustang.

A lot can depend on altitude and traction.I am at 1900 feet and a few weeks ago buddy whose 94z has run 13.9 or so at same track could only muster 14.54 best .My vert could only get 14.96.We were bolth on street rubber and that hurt us bad at the track. And must have been terrible density air day.

His mods are flowmaster catback,1le bellows, cold air forget brand,
k and n filter, airfoil ,borla ypipe and hi flow cat.Its got 3.23 gears.
He ran the 13.9 something last year on et streets though not street tires.

My vert has subframe connectors,1le bellows,airfoil,g2 induction,holley filter,tb bypass,160 stat,hpp tuning out.2.73 gears.

We did some heads up me and him at the track.First run he beat me by a tenth only my 14.96 to his 14.84 due to terrible 60fts with his car.Second run he lost due to technical red light but did run a 14.54 to my 14.96.His mph was like 98 and mine like 94 .

So I would think your 2.73 will run mid 14s with your mods and could have a hard time beating that 13.9 mustang.Buy some nitto fast that should help big time and a stall converter if you really want to have a good chance. But remember hotter weather or bad air can slow down them as well as you.And altitude makes cars run slower too.

Do a search for "1st gear selectable" and you can slice off the plastic nub that prevents you from shifting into first. Whole thing took me 20 minutes on my car.

Like everyone else is saying, you should be putting down high 13's already. I had a 1994 with 2.73 rear end and A4 and was able to put down 13.8. Of course that was at sea level. Just lower the tire pressure some and hope for some bite. If you hook up, you'll probably be able to pull a 13.9 or so. Find an empty strech of road to practice your launch.

Remove the spare and anythig else you can afford to, let some air out and practice launching. Forget the 1st gear mod as it's not going to help any. Do the TB bypass and good luck.

I agree in stock trim you should be able to muster a 13.9. If anything else get a good set of DR's and you'll be all set. FYI I ran a 13.7 with a K&N CAI and a cutout on street tires. 95' Z A4 2.73's. Make sure your car is in good tune, if it hasn't had a tuneup yet it's due.

If I had an auto, Id first put in a stall converter, shift kit, and 3.73's. Then headers, exhaust, other bolt ons.

I wish I had an auto sometimes, but this 6spd is sooo much fun
