Need answer now - LT4 extreme timing set related

The extreme duty timing set comes with a water pump gear. Do you
have to use the supplied gear or can I leave the original one in place?

And yes, I did a search first but did not get an answer.

As far as i know you have to use the one in the kit because the teeth are different.

I am wondering this too, I am trying to buy the kit with the oversized crank sprocket WITHOUT buying 2 of them. The problem is that they dont list the waterpump gear p/n so i dont think i can buy that seperately. Leaving me with 2 crank sprockets if i buy the whole kit. I have the oversized crank spr. from thunder and trying to buy the rest from gmpd. Anyone know the part # for just the waterpump gear? Anyone understand wtf i just said??? it'll save me 30$

I installed it with the stock water pump gear. I measured everything
and they are all the same dimensions. I hope someone chimes in with
an answer soon in case I have done something wrong. I have a few
more things to do before I install the timing cover so I hope to get
this resolved. I have no idea how to swap out the water pump gear
if that has to be done.

To get it out you just have to knock it out with a punch and hammer from the lifter valley. Installing the new one should be just the reverse of removing it.

The gears of the extreme set are billet steel and the stock is cast iron, so even if it fits it will be eaten up fast.
Idealy the gear should be romoved and replaced with a press, but it can be done with a hammer if you're careful.

OK. I did the deed. Tapped out the shaft from the lifter galley just
as recommended by 97WS6SCharged. Put it in my arbor press
and tried to press it out but no luck (it's only a 3-ton). So went to plan
"B" and beat it out with a big hammer. Reversal of operation was
not to bad.

Thanks to sssalah for the shove in the right direction.
