I would make sure all your fittings are clean, put it together and then take it to have it professionally evacuated and recharged. Don't operate the compressor before you have it charged! Pull the fuse or the relay for safety (but don't forget you did so).

so if i have trash in the lines,i can still connect them to the compressor and the evacuated process will take it out.i did have all the freon removed with the machine that charges and removes freon when we found out my compressor had locked up.

thanks for the help shoebox

AC works on pressure if you have no gas in the system the compressor wont work. Do you have the old compressor off. Put a new orphous tube and a new dryer. New o rings and flush system, I use break cleaner and air to blow it threw the system(i use this method on every car). Your lines are fine unless they leak. AC is so easy to do when you understand how it works. Dont forget to use compressor oil and all the o rings. The evac process will not clean the lines only removes the gas. You must flush.

I just did all the above my ac reads 48dgr it will be nice this summer.

"orphous"?

Would that be "orifice"?

If the lines have been exposed and not covered while the system was open, then yes, I would do something to flush them out.

Obviously the system works on pressure. There are pressure switches that are designed to keep the compressor from running when the charge is not adequate. My suggestion was merely as a safety measure in case the others failed.

I would suggest using some UV oil in the oil that way if it leaks its real easy to find. Yes local auto store should have dryer orphous tube. Not i sure i spelt orphous right but you get the point. Dryer is like 35-45bucks the o-tube is cheap also. I dont have a scale to put the gas in with so, i use High/Low pressur gauges. This is not the correct way but does work.

You should have some nice AC.

Where is the orifice tube at on the system. I'll be doing mine real soon and I need to get all the parts, and how much are we talking for that?

I called Jason at Sam Taylor Buick to get the seals and a new dryer and he told me that the F-Body systems dosen't have an orifice tube. Is he right? If not where is it at?

I think Jason is correct. I have not found an orifice tube in the parts book.

No orifice tube on our systems, use of the expansion valve eliminates the need for one.

OK, I got all the parts ordered that I need. Any tips on getting the old compressor out and the new one in?
